We recently stumbled upon Yumi Okita, a textile artist based in North Carolina. She creates stunning, lifelike sculptures of moths and butterflies out of natural fibers. I always remember as a child I had an intense fascination with moths, the way they would flock to the lights during Summer and how each lovely one had unique markings in soft pastel shades. There was something so charming and magical about them. I think that's why these amazing sculptures grabbed me so much, they remind me of a kind of childhood curiosity and wonder that we lose as we grow up.
