For a few weeks now I've been busy planning a trip to London, Scotland and Oxford. It will be my third big trip in three years, last year I went to Japan and the year before I was in Canada. It's really exciting to be visiting the city that Skye spent so much time in, getting inspired by and learning about the jewellery industry.
I'm finding a yearly trip around September to be a much needed break from my regular schedule, and an important way to refresh. Because travel, to me, is more than just a way to experience new things and see different cultures, to try food and drinks and meet different people.
For me, travel means learning to be myself, be by myself and trust myself.
I've always been a pretty social kind of person, I don't need much down time or time on my own. I live with my 5 best friends, and spend pretty much all of my time either at work, with my friends and my family. Between all these engagements, I am rarely alone.
But to be extroverted doesn't mean that I don't need time alone, and this is something I've been learning a lot about lately. That's why I'm looking forward to a stint of around 20 days that I'll be pretty much by myself in London. It will be one of the longest times I've been on my own for, in my short 22 years, so I am looking forward to spending some real quality time with myself.
If you've got any recommendations for Edinburgh, Oxford or London, comment below, and I'll add them to my schedule! I'm leaving this Wednesday and I'm very excited. Wish me luck!
